Upcycling is a New Year's Resolution Worth Making

Updated: Jan 10, 2022

It's that time of year again. Time to reflect on the past year (it's been a doozy!) and think about the changes you want to make for the coming year. Yeah I know, you want to get organized, you want to improve your health. I think that's on everyone's list. Let's think outside the box. What changes can you make that would have a positive impact on not just you but those around you and future generations? Upcycling, yep upcycling is a win-win.

The past few years have been difficult. We've had to create a new "norm". Here we are at the end of 2021. It's hard to find new furniture, appliances and even cars. It's really made me slow down and think about a number of things. Can we make what we have last longer? Can we take old things and make new things? The answer is yes and upcycling is the way to do it.

As you know, I upcycle tires. Used tires are plentiful. The materials I use to upcycle tires are also plentiful. No, I don't have to wait three months to create a unique ottoman, coat rack or mirror. The supplies are readily available and enable me to create something fun, unique and one-of-a-kind. Seriously you're not going to see my tire ottoman anywhere else.

So what are some of the benefits of upcycling?

  • Saving materials from landfills.

  • Materials (tires, fabric, paints, old furniture) is readily available.

  • You create something unique, fun and functional

  • Less waste is always better for the planet

  • Did I mention $$$$$

  • Create and design to match your needs

Go ahead, get out you resolutions list and add upcycling. Here are a few Facebook pages to inspire you:
